Shadowed by the Karlheinz Schreiber fiasco, little beknownst to most Ontarians, a provincial speech from the throne was delivered yesterday at Queen's Park by Lt. Governor David Onley to open a new session of the Ontario legislature. Fresh from a landslide re-election victory, the McGuinty Liberals sent a message to the province with committments on attacking poverty, bettering relations with the Aboriginal community, and to continue their work from their first mandate. Dalton has obviously learned his lesson and is treading carefully by not make any specific and ambitious promises.
What I found interesting were the going-on's of the official opposition. Despite the fact that he has no seat in the legislature, and despite the fact that he ran one of THE worse campaigns in Ontario's history (or Canada's for that matter... another bad one was the PC 1993 federal campaign.. which coincidentally he was in charge of as well), I am surprised that John Tory was the man representing the PC's in delivering the opposition's response to the media. There are 26 other "ELECTED" MPP's to choose from and NONE of them made a peep, not even Her Majesty's Leader of the Official Opposition Bob Runciman. The fact that he had to watch the speech from a TV instead of in the legislature speaks loudly. This man has lost credibility and is truly embarrassing for the party. He will forever be branded as the man who lost an election before the campaign even started. One cannot even compare this recent loss to Mike Harris' in 1990 and Dalton's in 1999 as they were facing strong competitors at the time.
It's time to step down Mr. Tory.... or maybe have one of your party's MPP's let go of their seat for you out of pity. The federal government has just announced strategies to increase competition for the wireless sector... so maaayyyybe you would make better use of yourself back at Rogers. I am sure all Canadians, including myself, certainly wouldn't mind paying less on our cell phone bills.

John Tory is obviously not a leader so who cares what that loser has to say.
I can't believe they kept him.
Leadership does matter and John Tory lacks Leadership....Why on earth would he run in a riding that his chances were 50/50 compared to the riding he was in which he would of won hands down!!
It's time for John to go away, far, far away!
