a honduras-like coup here in toronto?

It's been over 2 weeks, and the city continues to pile up with garbage. We can literally hear a pin drop at City Hall. Toronto needs a new mayor. Not just any mayor, we need an effective one who isn't leashed and gagged by organized labour. David Miller needs to go.

What do we Torontonians need to do to make him take action? Maybe we need to pull a Honduras-like coup here in Toronto? Afterall, like President Zelaya, Miller will have the option of parachuting back into the city and land safely on the heaps of trash.

You need to get a grip on yourself! Besides being irrationally anti-labour and a wacko, it is against the law to incite a violent overthrow of elected officials. Get a grip on your right-wing fanaticism, join the Tory party, and then move to Honduras where your opinions will be acceptable!

Hello again
I appreciate your reply and admit that my reaction was strong(for a number of personal and political reasons.) But I do think the thrust of this posting is a dark underside of the Liberal Party. Anti-labour sentiment has historically gone hand in hand with anti-democratic tendencies in both 'blue' Liberals and Torys in general. Until we learn to respect the fundamental rights of workers as part of the general issue of human rights we will have failed the principles of democracy. I have seen this in Honduras myself where in so-called 'free-trade zones' union leaders are routinely harassed and sometimes killed. Advocates of democracy who are quick to jettison their democratic principles when they don't like the results of elections or constitutionally guaranteed rights being exercised by members of unions should have no right to say they believe in these principles in the first place. It is easy to blame the worker or the voter but not so easy to deal with the problem.
Peace

Gagged by unions? C'mon.

Get spat on daily, verbally abused, and have things thrown at you from 80 km/hr and come back and say that unions have no place. You wanna get rid of them then put every fucking Torontonian through sensitivity training.

I have been off work for injuries sustained through my daily dealings with idiots. Now they wanna take away sick days. I could care less about banking them but the days are necessary to deal with people who have your attitude.

Well, now I'm curious.

Who would carry off this "military coup"?

Torontonians? I don't bloody think so! They can't even dig themselves out of a snowstorm without calling in the armed forces.

Most members of the armed services, myself included, have seen 30 times worse in most places of the world than what you are "suffering" in Toronto. You're still in paradise by most of the world's standards.

So, I guess you'll have to lead some form of popular uprising using angry locals with pitchforks. Have fun. If it works out, let Vancouver know.
